Gravel is evolving: speeds are increasing, races are becoming more and more challenging and requirements have changed. This was the driving force behind the creation of Sharq GR and Soniq GR, two new wheels designed specifically for today’s Gravel Races, where riders compete over demanding terrain using wider tyres.

Sharq GR and Soniq GR do not replace the current Sharq and Soniq: they are a natural variant, an extension focused on a precise discipline. In line with Fulcrum’s philosophy, there are no compromises or forced adaptations: every product is designed to express maximum performance and reliability in its specific use.

Connecting the dots

The GR project has grown out of an in-depth analysis of race data
and direct experiences from high-level gravel races.

The objective was clear: to create a wheel able to support high speeds over rough terrain, whilst maintaining control, precision and a concrete aerodynamic advantage.

The heart of the project is the new 2-Wave Rim with an inner rim width of 30 mm, and mini-hook, designed to work in perfect synergy with wide tyres, optimising their shape, contact patch and stability. The variable wave profile, with a height of 47/52 mm, improves air flow management and reduces the yaw moment and frontal drag.

The wheel-tyre system has been developed to work in perfect synergy with 47-50 mm wide tyres, which have not only become standard in today’s fastest gravel races but are also the ideal solution for every day rides, where control, efficiency and comfort make the difference. Naturally, wider tyres can also be used, in compliance with the applicable ISO standard.

Specific 45 mm tyres, that in certain contexts have revealed themselves to be technically valid and to perform very well, are also compatible. This combination, which is not currently covered by the ISO standard, has been validated by Fulcrum for certain tyres, following rigorous compatibility tests performed in-house and by tyre manufacturers.

The combination between the 30 mm inner rim and the new-generation of wider gravel tyres, opens new pressure management possibilities. The larger air volume of the system allows for a wider adjustment range, to optimize the setup and find the best balance between speed, control and stability in relation to terrain, conditions and riding style.

It is fundamental, however, not to exceed the maximum pressure indicated on the rim (3.5 bar).

Two models, a single vision

Sharq GR and Soniq GR share the same design philosophy and the same performance objective, but provide different technical solutions to meet different requirements.

The Sharq GR represents the maximum expression of Fulcrum’s performance for gravel races: FF100 carbon fibre, hubs with Cup & Cone bearings, flat profile A3RO spokes and 2:1 lacing pattern, for maximum reaction, precision and aerodynamic advantage. Total weight of the system: 1.550 g.

The Soniq GR uses FF80 fibre, which is less competition-orientated compared to FF100, but that is in any case able to provide excellent overall performance. The wheel is completed with sealed cartridge bearings hubs, with adjustable preload, and round spokes, for a total weight of 1.695 g.

Both models use the 2-Way Fit™ technology with non-drilled rim bed, ready for tubeless installation without tubeless tape, for a perfectly sealed, more solid structure, which ensures long-term reliability.

For Deva RD, this vision takes concrete shape: carbon is moulded into essential profiles, giving life to Miche’s most aerodynamic and lightweight wheel yet, and the first with carbon spokes.

Deva RD is the ultimate expression of the Miche Formula, a method combining engineering, data analysis and outstanding cycling expertise. THE FORMULA FOR PERFORMANCE

The new rim profile reduces turbulence and improves stability in crosswind conditions, while carbon spokes increase the stiffness-to-weight ratio and reduce rotating mass, bringing the wheelset down to 1305 g (52 mm rim profile). Two rim profile options will be available: 52 mm and 62 mm, allowing riders to choose between all-round efficiency and maximum aerodynamic performance for high-speed racing.

For Wilier, speed is not just about performance, but about interpretation. The Grip is born from this vision and brings it into the gravel world, transforming it into a recognizable, competitive project that is entirely consistent with the brand’s racing DNA.

Created as an incubator for Wilier’s gravel activities, The Grip integrates top-level competition, product development, aesthetic research, and storytelling. It is a project aimed at building a strong and consistent presence in the international gravel landscape, positioning Wilier as an authentic and credible reference in a constantly evolving scene.

This vision takes shape in the team’s aesthetic identity and in the Rave SLR ID2 with a dedicated The Grip livery, which will accompany the team throughout the 2026 season.

The visual language is built around the concept of connection through contact, expressed through bold textures, glitch gradients, and distorted typography. A livery inspired by 1990s/2000s imagery—already at the core of the Rave SLR ID2 launch campaign—portrays gravel without filters, capturing and expressing its most authentic nature.

Leading The Grip will be Mattia De Marchi, a benchmark athlete on the international gravel scene, who will take on the dual role of team manager and rider. The Grip was born from a shared journey with De Marchi from the very early stages: a project developed together, step by step, starting from a shared vision of gravel racing. After committing to the Wilier project, Mattia contributed directly to shaping the team’s sporting and technical identity, becoming a foundational part of it.

Alongside him is Eddy Le Huitouze, a young and talented rider coming from the WorldTour, who has chosen gravel as the ground on which to relaunch his sporting career, bringing strong racing culture and great competitive ambition to the project.

Completing the roster is Jordy Bouts, an established athlete in international gravel racing with direct experience in the most important competitions. Bouts has chosen The Grip as the definitive step in his career, recognizing in the project the structure and vision needed to compete consistently at the highest level.

The Grip will follow an international calendar, confirming the project’s global nature. The season debut is set for February 14, 2026, at Santa Vall, the first stop in a journey that will continue with The Hills, Sea Otter Classic (USA), The Traka, Unbound Gravel, The Rift, and other top-tier events. A program spanning Europe and the United States, to measure up and compete in the benchmark races of the global gravel scene.

A new aero benchmark on the market

Rigorous testing in the Silverstone wind tunnel pushed an ambitious project beyond all expectations. The verdict was extraordinary: A 13.6% reduction in drag, exceeding the 12% estimated by CFD simulations. In the complete bike-rider system - always central to Wilier - we recorded a 4.5% improvement in aerodynamic resistance.

The comparison with the Filante SLR ID1 highlights tangible and significant advantages: maintaining the same speed of 40 km/h, a substantial 14.15 Watts of power is saved. Even more impressive are the data over distance: by applying the same power of 290 W over a 70 km route, a gain of 1 minute and 45 seconds is achieved, a margin that truly makes a difference in a competitive environment.

The decisive test came in direct comparison with the five competitor top-of-the-range World Tour bikes: an average aerodynamic resistance coefficient 2.42% better. At the speeds of modern cycling, this difference means seconds gained and concrete competitive advantages in the race.

Integrated innovation: the Aerokit system

The down tube, which has always been one of the most complex areas from a design perspective, was developed with a precise goal: to have the minimum aerodynamic drag and to reduce the exposure of the water bottles to the air as much as possible.

The Aerokit system was specifically designed with this intention by our Innovation Lab together with Elite Cycling, a global leader in the design and production of hydration systems for cycling. This partnership has resulted in a kit that combines functionality and performance: 1100 ml of total capacity, optimally distributed and with a minimal aerodynamic impact.

From a technical perspective, the Aerokit functions as a veritable spoiler, capable of keeping the air more stable and less turbulent around the frame. Compared to traditional systems, aerodynamic drag is reduced by over two-thirds.

The Aerokit is also compatible with traditional round water bottles: 550ml on the down tube and up to 750ml on the seat tube.

F-Bar ID2: aerodynamic cockpit for superior control and comfort

The new F-Bar ID2 is an aerodynamic cockpit developed around the needs of the modern cyclist, thanks to the joint efforts of engineers and the athletes of the Groupama – FDJ Cycling Team.

Every detail is designed to offer you maximum efficiency and control in all riding conditions. The O.E.F. (Optimized Ergonomic Flare) design introduces an orthogonal flare of 3 cm between the high and low grip (available in 35/38 cm, 37/40 cm, and 39/42 cm), which, unlike other handlebars with differentiated widths, keeps the ergonomics of the controls unchanged, guaranteeing you a natural, comfortable, and tucked position to improve aerodynamic performance further. For the first time on a Wilier product, the handlebar clamping hardware is completely hidden, benefiting aesthetics, protection from dirt and sweat, and aerodynamic performance - all while fully complying with the latest UCI regulations.
